Abstract

On 12 June 2017 the Minister of Education and Culture Munadjir Effendy has set the Ministerial Regulation number 23 of 2017 concerning School Day which is conducted 8 hours 1 day or 40 hours in 5 days in 1 week.Likewise the Catholic SDK Karitas 5 has transformed the old learning clock system into a new system that we know as full day school . With the new system changes students must adjust themselves and the infrastructure must support these changes. This study is a prototype design of ergonomic learning chairs for grades 5 and 6 and it is known that the body map nuance questionnaire found pain complaints found in the 40% section, backbone 45%,bone spine 43%, 30% knees, where such complaints are complaints from students when too long in a sitting position. With the REBA analysis method to determine the value of students' sitting posture, a reba final score is 6 where the score is categorized as a level 2 action which has a moderate risk but corrective action is considered necessary to change the sitting posture so that a change in the old learning chair is needed. The ergonomics study chair prototype was made based on percentile values of body anthropometric data of 5th and 6th grade students, designed a prototype with 50 cm back height, 48 cm seat width, 30 cm arm rest, seat length 40 cm, seat width 45 cm, chair leg height 45 cm, locker width 40 cm, locker width 19 cm, overall seat length 48 cm, overall width 48 cm, overall height of chair 90 cm. The presence of an ergonomic chair can reduce pain complaints and change the sitting position.
