Abstract

The roof covering must function as a building protector from the weather or other disturbing and dangerous
objects. In addition, the roof also has a function to affect the temperature and humidity in the area inside a room. Roof
coverings have various types that can be applied to various buildings, one of which is a zinc roof. This study was
conducted using a quantitative method in the form of experiments or trials using the room temperature application on a
mobile phone to obtain data on the ability of the roof covering to withstand the heat of the sun. Measurements were
made by comparing the temperature between the zinc roof that was given a layer of black paint with the zinc roof that
was not given a black or neutral coating according to the original material color. The purpose of this study was to
determine the comparison of temperatures between the outside and inside of the use of zinc roof material whose
surface was coated with black paint and zinc roofs that were not coated with black paint. From the results of
observations that have been made, the use of black paint on the surface of the zinc roof that has been given black paint
can reduce heat, although black itself is a color that absorbs more heat than other colors. So that the zinc material that
is given a layer of black paint can make the indoor temperature 1-2OC lower than the zinc roof material that is not
coated with black paint. The use of a zinc roof coated with black paint can provide a comfortable space for users
inside.
