Abstract

This study aims: To test empirically the difference of abnormal return before and after the event of presidential election on July 9, 2014 which is higher or lower than previous condition in LQ45 group of companies. This research use descriptive method used to see political event that is Presidential Election 2014 while quantitative method is used to measure how much influence of 2014 Presidential Election against LQ 45 stock price. The population in this research are companies whose shares are included in ten big shares LQ-45. Criterion of shares of ten companies included in the top ten LQ 45 The data used in this research is secondary data sourced from IDX. In this research, the method of analysis used is t test. The results of Abnormal Return (AR) indicate that there is a significant abnormal return on mining company stock in Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) around the event of President of Republic of Indonesia 2014. This result indicates that the market reacts to the event and shows the market speed in absorbing information. There was a significant difference in mean abnormal return between before and after event. These results indicate that the predictions and information received by investors are relatively the same
