Abstract

One part of the health protocol that is important in efforts to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 is to be diligent in ^washing hands^. Hands can be a source of germs and bacteria that can cause various diseases, especially if the hands are not clean, because hands are a part of the body that is very often used in various things and tasks and activities all the time. Meanwhile, various activities must continue so that people can remain productive and feel safe from the spread of COVID-19. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to break the chain of transmission due to transmission by human media (touch or air). Apart from washing hands, preventive measures that must be prioritized according to established health protocols are maintaining distance and wearing masks. Most of the existing hand washing devices still use hands in the process, both taking hand sanitizers and using water, hand touches still have to occur when closing the water tap, so there is still a potential risk of exposure to COVID-19 which may stick to the water tap considering its use for many (and uncontrollable) people. The Pedal sink to break the chain of spreading COVID-19 was partially made by a group of students from the Industrial Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Catholic University of Darma Cendika, with the guidance of a lecturer who in the production process is assisted by a helper assigned by the Campus. The Pedal sink has been handed over to the residents of RW 04 Deles through its representative, Head of RT02/RW04 Deles Surabaya. This product is a kind of Touchless Hand Washing product, which is a 100% hand washing device without the touch of a hand in its use.
