Abstract

Plastic means a synthetic compound derived from petroleum with the formation of a type of hydrocarbon which is made by polymerization of monomers and becomes solid at a certain temperature for the formation process. The use of plastic by people with their behavior of throwing rubbish carelessly can result in various environmental and health problems. In their behavior, people always burn their waste which can cause air pollution. Plastic waste should be separated during the disposal process so that it is not mixed with other organic or inorganic waste. The aim of this research is to determine the temperature difference in a room module between used plastic bottle material and glass material as a roof covering. This is intended to maximize plastic bottle waste so that it becomes more useful in the field of building materials technology as a substitute for glass. The experimental method was used by carrying out tests using the room temperature application to determine the comparison of temperature differences in the module room from the use of the two types of materials (plastic bottles and glass) in the building. The research results showed that the use of used plastic material can reduce room temperature by 6OC -7OC when compared to glass roofs.
