Abstract

BPR is one type of bank that serves micro, small and medium entrepreneurs. The MSME market share has kept BPRs producing positive performance in the midst of a pandemic. For MSMEs, BPRs are microfinance institutions that support MSME performance. This research was conducted in Sidoarjo Regency, which is an area with inflation of 2.7% in 2018, lower than 2017 of 4.11%. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of Intellectual Capital for BPRs in the context of developing BPR performance in Sidoarjo. Intellectual Capital is an important component of intangible assets managed by BPRs. The stages of this research include: (1) identifying the role of Intellectual Capital in BPR; (2) identify BPR performance; (3) Identify the development of human resource competencies from a cost and benefit standpoint; and (4) Analyze the role of Intellectual Capital in developing effective BPR performance. The results of the study show that Intellectual Capital plays a very important role in the performance of BPRs, especially in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The training that was conducted actually helped develop employee competencies, so that BPR performance could increase. Judging from the nominal employee training costs incurred compared to the benefits, namely in the form of income generated, it shows an increase in Earning After Tax. For employees, training allows them to understand their duties and responsibilities, and is beneficial for their personal performance.
